Another type of depressive disorder is manic-depressive illness. This illness is not as prevalent as Clinical Depression. A manic depressive can experience any or all of the symptoms of Clinical Depression when in a depressed cycle. When in a manic cycle one can experience additional symptoms which can include... disconnected and racing thoughts... Inappropriate elation... Inappropriate irritability... Severe insomnia... Grandiose notions... Increased talking... Increased sexual desire... Increased energy... Inappropriate social behavior. This tape is not appropriate for the Manic Depressive. Manic Depression must be treated with the appropriate medication. Manic Depressive disorders are treated differently than Clinical Depression. This is another reason why consultations with a Psychiatrist is so essential. In most cases the symptoms of manic depressive disorders are relieved with medication alone.

Clinical Depression is often treated with medication... and counseling. Some Therapists have been experiencing added success in some cases prescribing diet changes, vitamin supplements, minerals and herb's. A partial list of these would include vitamin supplements such as vitamin B complex, Niacin or if you can't take Niacin... Niacinamide. Other nutrients include Gerovital H-3 also known as GH-3. L-Tyrosine which is an amino acid is also believed to reduce stress. St. John’s Wart has been very popular overseas for years and is gaining popularity in the states now. Even though these supplements are available over the counter and from the health food stores consult with your Doctor before trying any self medications.

Choline or Lecithin are also used for depression but are not recommended for manic depressives... this is another instance of the need for professional diagnoses of your symptoms. Depression can also be induced by medical factors Improper blood/sugar levels are an example. Heredity factors can also play a part in depressive disorders. This video is not a substitute for your Doctors advice, counseling or medications.

Another form of depression researchers refer to as Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. If you notice your feelings of depression are tied to the winter months of decreased sunlight and lack of out-door activities, you may be suffering from SAD! The symptoms may be... a craving for carbohydrates... that includes sugars and starchy foods.... Other symptoms include over sleeping... over eating... fatigue... social withdrawal and decreased sexual desires.

This type of depression is often relieved in part by turning on proper lighting and dressing warmer. Sitting in front of a special florescent light for a short period of time each day often helps improve the symptoms. Florescent light is the closest in color temperature to sunlight that is... if you specify a daylight temperature bulb. Some manufacturers measure the color temperature in Kalvins and daylight color temperature is about 5200 to 5500 Kalvin.

Sitting in front of a light may sound a bit silly... but a little silliness now in your life right now couldn't hurt. Come on... work with us here. This is a work tape! This step won't do you any harm even if your suffering from Clinical Depression and not from SAD, just don't sit too close to the light. Brighten up your room and your life.

Now as for Clinical Depression, you may wonder how this anti-depression work tape was created. One of our producers, let's call her Jennifer, was suffering with her second bout of depression. The first one lasted about a year. This time the depression had robbed her of almost three years.
